"I deserve to go for a vacation, and it's up to me to decide when. Anyway, I will send you the money now."
Catrina still, like always, sent a bunch of messages but Acwell ignores it.
On the other hand, Kamiah noticed Acwell had been acting weird with his phone, but she always dismissed it. She thinks it's only because of work.
A week after, Acwell got his day off. He told Kamiah that he will just visit a friend and come back. He did not tell her that he will go and see his daughter.
Acwell knocked on the door of Catrina's apartment. She is not expecting that he will visit them, and it was good that she is also off. She opened the door and smiled. Acwell tried to force a smile.
"Hello!" Acwell said.
"Hi! Come in! Amara is watching cartoons," Catrina said.
"I brought some food for the both of you."
"You should. Thank you!"
Acwell handed it to her and went to sit on the floor beside Amara. She looked at him, smiled, and said, "Daddy!" Acwell smiled and hug her. "How are you, my little girl?" he said.
They watched cartoons together, and when it ended, the three of them played hide-and-seek. Acwell finds it fun to play with her like this. Kai is still young, so he still can't do something like this.
When they got tired, they decided to eat the takeaway food that Acwell brought. Catrina had taken some videos and pictures of them together.
"As I told you before, keep those to yourself," Acwell said.
"Why do you always make me feel that you are ashamed of having her?" Catrina said.
"I am not ashamed I am just regretful."
"What did you say? You are regretful? I should be the one feeling that because I am the single mom here, but I am not."
"Then good."
"Acwell, why do you always do this to Amara? How could be so cruel with the child."
"She is in front of us, so can we just stop it."
"Oh, so when I say that he is cruel to her, it is not okay, but when he says he is regretful, it's fine?"
Acwell paused and looked at her, annoyed. He stood and kissed his daughter. "I am going now. I will come back when I feel like it."
"What? Wait, Acwell! What do you mean by that?"
"You heard me right."
Acwell went straight to the door without looking at her. "I am sorry, Amara!" he whispered. He went to see his friend, which was never planned. He was too pissed that he can't go home.
Since his friend has a license to buy liquor, they went to buy three bottles of vodka. It's been a long time since Acwell drank, but he feels like he really needs it today.
The second and the third week were the same. Kamiah now welcomed Acwell with anger and disappointment.
"Hi, love!" Acwell said with a smile.
"So, this is what you intend to do. To get drank every week?" Kamiah said.
"Sorry, love! I just can't say no to Ace."
"So, you can say no to me and ignore the way I feel but not to Ace?"
"Love, I am trying to change, but this is just me. It is not easy to get over bad habits."
"You did change to someone better, and I don't know what brought you back."
"Can we just stop this and let me sleep. I have enough."
"And I have enough of your drinking."
Kamiah steps out of the room to cry in the living room. Acwell heard her sob, but he tried to sleep with the hope that tomorrow it will be okay.
Acwell did not find Kamiah on the bed when he wakes up to prepare for work. Kai was also not on the crib. They left early.
He did not expect to be like this. He wanted to see and spend time with his daughter, but it always ends with him and Catrina fighting. Acwell drinks because he is torn between making a decision whether to see his daughter or not. And the problem is getting worse as now it affects his relationship with his wife.
