Yvonne had worked up a sweat flying the kite with Nicola, and her clothes were damp. After changing, she and Bennett went out.
Bennett had brought fishing gear and planned to take Yvonne fishing by the lake.
The scenery was beautiful, with clear, emerald water that you could see right to the bottom of.
Yvonne and Bennett sat by the shore, each with a fishing rod propped up beside them. But the rods remained perfectly still.
"How long is it going to take to catch something?" Yvonne, an active person by nature, was clearly getting restless.
"Who knows? Fishing teaches patience. Whether you catch anything often comes down to luck," Bennett replied with a smile.
"This is so boring," Yvonne muttered.
"You can head back to the tents if you want. It's livelier over there."
Yvonne instinctively shook her head. "No, thanks. I don't really get along with anyone over there."
She didn't know Dominic well, and her relationship with Letitia was even worse. With Nicola now sticking close to Cynthia, Yvonne didn't feel like joining them either.
She sat in her chair, swinging her legs idly. "Dominic brought Letitia on this camping trip," she said listlessly. "Does this mean the Taylor and James families are actually considering a marriage alliance?"
"A marriage between the Taylors and the Jameses isn't impossible, but Mr. James Sr. hasn't raised a single competent heir. Even a playboy like Dominic wouldn't be interested in Caroline or Letitia. Only Mr. James Sr. is still living in that fantasy."
Bennett snorted, his eyes still on the fishing rod.
Yvonne mused, "I just thought since Dominic only brought Letitia, maybe he's already chosen between the two James granddaughters."
"The James and Taylor families are working together right now, so the Taylors can't completely embarrass them. Dominic is just placating them. And between Caroline and Letitia, Letitia is much easier to deal with."
