“I heard about their symptoms from Steven Edwards. Honestly, looks like only you can handle this!”

As Dennis Williams spoke, there was no mistaking the admiration in his eyes as he looked at her.

Camila Davis grinned. “So, all this time, you’re the one who lured me out to these mountains, huh?”

Dennis just raised an eyebrow, not bothering to deny it. “Well, can you blame me? It’s been a rough trip—no sleep, lots of treatments, mixing up meds.”

“How could I complain?” Camila shook her head. “I told you before, whenever you need help, just ask. And honestly, being able to help those Special Forces guys—it makes me happy. They’re heroes. Their lives matter more than anything.”

Dennis gazed at her, his expression softening. “You say that, but I know you’re exhausted. When we get back to Harrisburg, I owe you big time.”

Camila felt a flutter in her chest. “When are you heading back? Did you finish up your work?”

“All done,” Dennis replied with his usual calm. “But I can wait for you. How long will your treatments take?”

Camila thought for a second. “I can finish the meds today, but some of them didn’t get help soon enough. A few guys are in pretty bad shape—they’ll need three days of treatment to fully recover.”

“Alright then. I’ll wait for you,” Dennis said, his voice carrying a warmth she almost missed.

Camila blinked, suddenly feeling a surge of happiness she couldn’t quite explain.

It was just a simple promise—nothing special, really.

But it made her ridiculously happy.

“I know,” Dennis replied, deadpan. “So?”

“N-nothing!” Aaron stammered, but inside he was screaming: Seriously? He never lets anyone touch that mug! Now he’s just giving it to Ms. Davis like it’s nothing? First he gets her flown in, now he’s handing her his tea—Is he… making a move?

The thought startled Aaron. Then again… not likely. Just a few months ago, Dennis seemed totally clueless. No way he’s changed his tune that fast, right?

But Dennis caught the look Aaron was giving him and frowned, his voice cool. “You got something to say? What’s with that look?”

Aaron hesitated, then blurted out, “Mr. Williams, do you… uh… do you like Ms. Davis?”
