Anya went home and told her boyfriend everything. She shared every little detail of her day with him, the good and the bad.

When Leo Cedillo got back from campus, he wrapped his arms around her waist. "Sweetheart, go relax for a bit. I'll come hang out with you as soon as I finish this code."

"Okay."

Anya sat beside him, trying to watch him code, but eventually gave up and decided to clean the balcony instead. There was no point in forcing herself to do something she didn't enjoy.

Lately, things hadn't been going smoothly for Leo. Whether it was his startup or his studies, he just smiled and brushed it off every time Anya asked, keeping her in the dark.

She knew he did it to keep her from worrying.

But sharing her daily life with him had become second nature.

That night, Anya had already fallen asleep hugging her giant stuffed polar bear, but Leo was still out on the balcony, making call after call.

"Another company wants to break their contract?" Leo asked Alyna.

Alyna stared at the messages on her screen. "Yeah. Weyland Group, Gale E-Commerce, and Garrison Group. The executives at all three companies would rather pay the termination penalties than stay with us."

Alyna frowned at the names of her corporate contacts. She had done everything she could. Thanks to the chaos at Golden Top, her thesis at Kingsford University had been completely sidelined. And yet, the results were still a disaster.

Leo pinched the bridge of his nose. "Did they say when they're sending their people to finalize the paperwork?"

Alyna gave him a timeframe, and Leo nodded. "Understood." It was getting late, so he ended the call and stepped back into the living room.
