Mia purposefully killed the engine, fully aware that her husband couldn't stay mad at her.
Leo noticed Mia at the wheel and would typically have tossed a sarcastic remark her way, but seeing the intimidating presence of his uncle in the passenger seat, he respectfully pulled up alongside them and rolled down his window. "Uncle Andre," he greeted.
Andre glanced at his wife, who had clearly orchestrated this interaction. Mia flashed him a bright, crescent-eyed smile. "I'm your favorite girl, aren't I, honey?"
Andre was too amused and exasperated to say anything. He simply turned back to his nephew and gave a slight nod.
Suddenly, Mia leaned all the way across, resting her elbows on her husband's lap, and shouted at Leo, "You only see your uncle? Are you blind to your aunt sitting right here?"
Gritting his teeth, Leo forced out, "Aunt Mia."
"There's a good boy!" Mia cheered, thoroughly enjoying her momentary power trip.
Just then, the rear window rolled down, pushed by Henry's tiny paws. He leaned out. "Brother, you didn't even say hi to me!"
"I literally saw you today," Leo deadpanned. "Who do you think bought you that burger?"
Henry giggled, waving his little hands at his brother and Anya.
Andre frowned, his tone shifting into cold authority. "Go home."
Only then did Leo drive off. Mia restarted the engine. "See? The road opened up. I totally know how to drive."
The moment they got home, Mia dragged Henry straight into the bathroom to scrub him clean. He came out looking like a pristine, fluffy marshmallow, and the whole family took turns cuddling the chubby little guy.
When dinner rolled around, neither of the boys wanted to eat. A quick interrogation revealed that Leo had stuffed them full of snacks all afternoon.
While the adults ate, the two boys were suspiciously quiet, clearly plotting something big.
After dinner, the entire house was turned upside down searching for them.
Finally, Mia's sharp eyes caught movement. Standing by the window, she pointed into the distance. "Are those two little mud monsters our kids?"
