I slid my arm backward to wrap around his neck, and I froze in that instance because I knew that it was not Waleed who was holding me in his arms, but it was someone else because Waleed's hairs were short at the back and whoever this was had long hairs. And before my mind was at the conclusion that it was Riyaan who was holding me I heard Waleed's voice. "Get your hands off her."
I was petrified, it was as if someone had knocked the air out of my lungs, I just wanted to die at that moment, because I know what it would look like to any person and what must be going on in Waleed's mind at this moment.
I opened my eyes as Riyaan turned me along with him to face Waleed, his arms still around my waist, and his chin resting on the crook of my neck.
"I said get your fucking hands off her," Waleed snarled.
I was looking at him with my eyes petrified, his lips were pressed together in fury, his jaw as hard as a stone, his grey eyes were filled with hurt and rage and were fixed on me.
I felt Riyaan pulling away from me, as he slid away, his hands from around my waist and then he stepped beside me. Waleed was looking at him with hate and blood in his eyes.
"I think your wife likes my hands on her", Riyaan said with a smirk, and I couldn't believe what he was saying.
Riyaan was my friend, my childhood friend and how could he do anything like this, I looked at Riyaan who was looking at Waleed with triumph on his face. I couldn't let him do this to Waleed, I couldn't let him do this to us.
"Waleed I can explain, "I blurted out as I took a step towards him.
He held his hand in front of me to stop me from getting closer to him.
" Just stop Mia, I think I know what I saw," He said in a voice barely audible.
He didn't even turn back to look at me, as I ran after him, he was out of the main door before I reached the base of the staircase and kept calling and running after him.
I saw him dumping his bag in the trunk and taking long strides to the driving seat before I reached the car.
He was already on the seat and had turned on the engine.
"Waleed you can't leave like this, at least give me a chance to explain", I called as I saw his Escalade skid on the driveway.
He sped out of there before I reached the spot he had parked his car without even giving me a look. I stood there defeated, as the dust settled back on the road again.
