When Garcia saw the two of them return to the office together, her jealousy flared, her eyes tinged with red.
She had always craved Dylan’s attention and approval. Every time she saw Rebecca with him, that fire of envy burned hotter.
As soon as Dylan stepped into his office, Garcia intercepted Rebecca in the hallway.
Now that she knew Rebecca’s true identity, Garcia kept the secret to herself. She had no intention of letting the whole company discover that Raina was, in fact, Mrs. Austin—the CEO’s wife.
“Raina, where did you and the boss disappear to these past two days? What happened?” Garcia demanded.
Rebecca arched an eyebrow. “Garcia, we’re equals here. You’re not my boss, so I don’t see why I owe you a rundown of my schedule with him.”
Garcia clenched her teeth, letting out a huff. “So what if the boss took you on a business trip? He just values your work, that’s all. But he’ll never like you. For your information, I’m the one who’s going to have his child.”
Rebecca had no idea what had gotten into Garcia today—why she was suddenly acting so unhinged.
Unfazed, Rebecca just replied with a cool, “Got it. I’ve got work to do—goodbye.”
With that, she walked off, leaving Garcia rooted to the spot, as if she’d just punched a pillow instead of a person.
What was going on?
She’d just announced she was going to have Dylan’s child, yet Rebecca hadn’t even flinched.
Furious, Garcia balled her fists. This couldn’t drag out any longer—she needed to find a way to win Dylan over, and soon.
...
Meanwhile, Dylan sat in his office, listening to Director Porter’s update on the Nova Project.
“Sir,” Porter began, “I spoke with the accountant in charge of the Nova Project. There’s an issue with the books. Part of the money went missing—someone embezzled it, which is why the original building materials were swapped out for cheaper ones.”

Dylan considered this for a moment. “Set it up.”
“Yes, sir. I’ll contact Mr. Olson.”
Once Porter left, Dylan thought for a moment, then dialed another number.
A cheerful voice answered on the other end. “Hello, sir. Do you need something?”
“Get ready. You’re coming to dinner with me tonight. We’re meeting Mr. Olson.”
Rebecca had barely sat down for a sip of water before Dylan assigned her to yet another task.
She let out a soft sigh, resigned. Looks like it’s going to be another late night.
