I frowned, ready to snap at Jeremy, when a woman burst into the café.

It took me a moment to recognize her—it was Branka.

"Jeremy Herson! You came all the way abroad just to find this bitch?" she shrieked.

Jeremy’s face darkened, his expression terrifying as he pulled me behind him.

"Branka! You lied to me about having a terminal illness and made me break my wife’s heart! And now you dare come here to insult her?"

How laughable. Not too long ago, Jeremy had stood in front of Branka, shielding her while glaring at me with the same anger. Now, the roles had reversed.

"Wasn’t it your fault for being so easy to fool?" Branka sneered, pointing at Jeremy. "I made up a story, and you abandoned the bride waiting for you at the altar. You’re just a pathetic excuse of a man, always finding someone else to blame for your stupidity."

I pulled my hand free from Jeremy’s grip and started clapping mockingly.

"No wonder you came looking for me—you realized you’d been played. In your world, no one’s allowed to trick you, so you came running back to the one who once loved you unconditionally."

"Don’t project your filthy thoughts onto me, Jeremy. I’m not you," I retorted sharply.

"And stop interfering in my life. You’ve already caused enough trouble!"

I gestured toward Branka, who was being restrained by the black-suited men, then turned and left the café with Jake.

As I glanced back one last time, I saw Jeremy collapse onto the ground, clutching his bleeding forehead.
