Yes, Caitlin would definitely apologize. The only reason she had set up this whole test was because she thought he wasn't a good match for Elsa. Now that the results were the opposite of what she'd expected, an apology was surely in order.

The more Xander thought about it, the more convinced he became. His heart pounded in his chest. This was Caitlin, after all. A woman of immense status. In all of Capital City, he was probably the only person who could ever make Caitlin Sylvester personally apologize.

Click, clack—

The sound of high heels grew closer, and Xander's anticipation mounted. Here she comes. She's finally here! No one could understand how thrilled he was at this moment.

But just as Xander was waiting for Caitlin to speak, the sound of the high heels walked right past him.

Xander froze. What was going on? Why did she walk past?

Before he could process it, Elsa's voice broke through his thoughts. "Honey, why are you still standing? Sit down! The food will be here soon."

Xander snapped back to reality and looked in the direction the footsteps had gone. He saw a woman in a business suit with short hair walking away. It wasn't Caitlin. Why wasn't it Caitlin? If she wasn't coming, did that mean he had bought these flowers for nothing?

The disappointment hit Xander like a punch.

Seeing him just standing there, Elsa put the flowers on the empty chair beside her and asked with concern, "Honey, what's wrong? Are you not feeling well?"

"Oh, no, I'm fine," Xander forced a smile. "I was just worried about whether you'd like the flowers I got you."

Elsa picked up the bouquet of flowers and beamed at the camera. Xander took several shots from different angles. "Okay, honey, change your pose."

"Alright."

Elsa happily obliged, striking a new pose. After about ten photos, Xander handed the phone back to her. "What do you think, darling? Are they okay?"

Elsa looked at the pictures. "They're great! Honey, your photography skills are getting better and better." She leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

Xander fought back his impatience and continued the act. "Honestly, I used to be terrible at this. After I met you, I actually took a class just so your pictures would look good."
