Before Jasper could react, the two bodyguards grew suspicious. One scooped Jasper into his arms while the other stepped forward, ready for a confrontation. "Who are you? What do you want?"

Elsa hadn't expected the bodyguards to be so meddlesome. "Gentlemen," she explained, "Mrs. Sylvester and I are very good friends. Jasper knows me. If you don't believe me, you can ask him."

She turned her attention back to the boy. "Jasper, you know me, don't you?"

Just then, Gertrude spotted them from across the playground and came running over, her eyes fixed warily on Elsa. "Elsa! What do you think you're doing?"

Elsa knew she couldn't use force or reveal her true intentions. Her eyes instantly filled with tears, her voice growing hoarse. "Gertrude, I… I just missed Jasper, Silas, and Gemma so much. I only wanted to see them."

Gertrude shot a look at the bodyguards. "Jasper doesn't know her well. Take him back to Mr. and Mrs. Gonzales right now!"

The two bodyguards immediately carried Jasper away.
