Rebecca's sharp gaze immediately landed on the caller ID flashing on Hailey's phone—"Mr. Pilsner".

That was Hailey's nickname for Jonah.

It seemed Jonah was calling.

Rebecca's curiosity deepened. She was eager to catch every word he said.

Hailey tapped the answer button. "Hello?"

All of a sudden, Jonah's deep, magnetic voice came through the line. "Hey, Hailey, are you still mad at me?"

Hailey stole a glance at Rebecca, knowing full well she was eavesdropping.

Even so, she concealed her contempt behind a veil of anger. "Why wouldn't I be?" she retorted.

Jonah tried to defend himself. "Hailey, let me explain. Nothing happened between Rebecca and me. Please don't jump to conclusions!"

"If nothing happened, then why were you two alone together?" Hailey shot back.

"She came into my room."

"If you hadn't let her in, how would she have gotten there?"

"I—"

"Enough! I don't want to hear another word. Goodbye."

"Hailey, wait! Come to the restaurant. I'll explain everything face-to-face."

"I'm not going."

"Please, Hailey, do it for the baby," Jonah begged. "Even a person on death row is afforded the right to defend themselves. You can't condemn me without hearing my side."

Hailey caught Rebecca leaning in from the corner of her eye.

"Fine. I'm coming over now," she said before ending the call.

"How can I? I'm six months pregnant! Have you even thought about what it means to be a husband and a father? You didn't come home last night, and now you're caught up in this scandal with Rebecca. How dare you still ask me to trust you?"

Jonah let out a weary sigh. "Hailey, I'm worn out from working hard too. All I want is your support and for you to believe in me."

"You're the one who caused this scandal with Rebecca, and yet you have the nerve to blame me for not trusting you. Jonah, how did you end up like this?" Hailey fired back.

"Hailey, please, just hear me out!"

But before Jonah could say another word, Hailey shoved him aside. "We're done. Let's break up."

Outside the door, Olivia gasped in shock. "I can't believe Hailey is actually ending things with Mr. Pilsner!"

Rebecca's eyes gleamed with satisfaction. It seemed that none of her efforts last night had been wasted.

Hailey and Jonah were on the brink of a breakup.

Everything they had was now in ruins.
