In the cramped space, a damp, foul odor hung in the air.
The sound of whimpering sobs occasionally reached Aurora's ears as she woke from a groggy state. The splashing of water was constant, and she could faintly smell the sea.
Aurora discreetly surveyed her surroundings and saw many other girls around her age. "Where… where is this?"
"How did I get here?!"
"Let me out! Let us out right now! Do you know who I am?! How dare you kidnap me? You'll pay for this!" a well-dressed blonde girl with a pretty face yelled, banging her fists against the door, her voice arrogant and demanding. "I'm the daughter of the mayor of Havenport! If my father finds out you took me, he'll have all of you killed! Let me go right now! Do you hear me?!"
With someone taking the lead, the other girls began to clamor as well. From their shouts, Aurora gathered a good deal of information. Among them were elegant young ladies from wealthy families as well as ordinary students. They came from all over, with nothing in common and no connection to one another.
A man's cold laugh echoed from outside the boat. "Heh, go on, cry! Scream! Once we get ashore, we'll give you a taste of real suffering. We'll see if you still have this much fight in you then."
The boat sailed for about three days before finally docking. The door to the hold was thrown open.
The harsh sunlight hung in the sky. Having been in the dim light for so long, Aurora's eyes were so irritated by the brightness that tears streamed down her face, making it almost impossible to see.
When the men on the shore saw them, a disgusting glint appeared in their eyes. They started making lewd jokes, their gazes like those of hungry wolves.
A loud splash was heard, followed by a chorus of gasps. "Someone jumped overboard!"
The men on the shore and on the boat showed no surprise or panic. Instead, they watched with amusement as the young woman struggled in the water. Her hands were tied, making it impossible for her to swim. She could only flail her body helplessly, and soon her struggles weakened.
"These women never learn," one of the men on the boat said as the girl's movements faded. "Whose turn is it today?"
"Mine," a fat, ugly man answered, his face alight with excitement. He let out a whoop and jumped into the water, pulling the girl out.
"Hey beautiful, if you wanted me to give you mouth-to-mouth, you could've just said so," the man said, baring his large yellow teeth as he pressed his lips against the girl's.
