As Elaria continued to channel the gentle divine power into her mother, Aeliana’s breathing finally evened out.
The berserk mana inside her dispersed, and her consciousness slipped away. Her body relaxed, eyes closing as she sank into deep unconsciousness.
Elaria let out a shaky breath.
In her hand, a vial materialized—filled with a shimmering green liquid that pulsed softly with healing energy.
She uncorked it and leaned down, ready to pour it into Aeliana’s mouth.
"Wait," Alex said, raising a hand. "She won’t be able to swallow it in that unconscious state."
"So?" Elaria asked, frowning.
"So," Alex continued, completely serious, "someone will have to give it to her mouth‑to‑mouth. Lucky for you, I’m here. I’ll take the bullet for you. Thank me later again."
Elaria stared at him, mouth hanging open.
For a moment, she couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth.
Her patience snapped.
She slapped him hard across the face.
"Stay the hell away from my mother, you creep! I never want to see you near her!"
Alex, feeling no real pain but rubbing his cheek anyway, sighed.
"Alright, alright. No need to snap."
He took a few steps back, hands raised in surrender.
A voice echoed inside Elaria’s mind.
{ You should be grateful to him. }
She flinched slightly.
{ That handsome kid, } the goddess of nature continued, { is the one who prevented her body from exploding by taking on all her attacks. He drew out the mana that was building inside her so she wouldn’t detonate. }
{ He is also the one who kept healing her body while it was being destroyed from within. Without him, you would have already lost your mother. Make sure to thank him properly. I do not like my Avatar to be ungrateful. Allies like him should be respected highly. }
Elaria’s eyes softened a little as she looked over at Alex.
He noticed her gaze.
"What?" he said. "Did you finally decide to let me do it?"
Elaria didn’t answer out loud.
’I’ll thank him properly later...’ she thought. ’I don’t think I’ll ever be able to repay this debt anyway.’
She lifted the vial to her lips and drank a small amount first, then leaned down.
Gently, she pressed her mouth to Aeliana’s, passing the potion to her mother mouth‑to‑mouth so that the unconscious queen could swallow it properly.
Alex’s eyes went wide as he didn’t miss a beat as Elaria gave the elixir to aeliana.
"Kyaa," he squealed dramatically. "This kind of thing only happens in anime episodes. Good thing I was here to witness it!"
Elaria’s face burned bright red from embarrassment.
"Will you ever shut your trap?!" she yelled without looking at him.
"Fine, fine," Alex said, grinning.
A soft glow spread through Aeliana’s body as the potion took effect. Scales receded, horns vanished, her wings dissolved into mist. Her skin returned to its normal tone, her features softening back into their graceful elven form. The last traces of the berserk transformation disappeared.
A message chimed in Alex’s head.
[ Skill: Origin Collapse has been deactivated. ]
The world snapped back to normal.
Suddenly, Alex felt as if a mountain had been dropped onto his shoulders. His vision blurred, as if his legs turned to lead. He stumbled, nearly dropping to both knees as all the strength drained from his body.
As if felt weakness like never before.
His breathing turned ragged.
Elaria rushed to his side.
"Are you alright?" she asked, panic in her voice.
She grabbed his face with both hands, forcing him to meet her eyes.
Elaria’s fist tightened as she drew her arm back, ready to punch him into the ground.
"Relax, relax, I’m joking," Alex said quickly.
She stopped, fist trembling, then slowly lowered it.
As she took a deep sigh knowing that it was pointless to argue with him.
After a moment of silence, Elaria’s expression softened just a little. She leaned closer, her face inches from his, still blushing.
"If you want..." she murmured, embarrassed, "I can give you the kiss instead..."
Alex blinked, stunned, mouth opening to respond—
SCHLK-
A cold blade erupted out of his chest.
The sword pierced straight through his heart from behind, crimson blood splattering onto the ground in front of him.
Alex choked, coughing up a mouthful of blood as his body jerked from the impact.
Elaria froze.
For a second, she couldn’t process what she was seeing.
Then tears filled her eyes, overflowing instantly.
"ALEX!!!" she screamed.
