I’d never seen Grant like this. For all the past years he’d been calm and

composed. I never thought he would get

jealous.

I remembered everything I did in college to make him jealous. I heard that the one who took the initiative had no initiative, so I started playing hard to get and spending time with other guys.

But Grant remained unaffected,

walking past me without a glance. I

realized this didn’t work for him.

We came back to the way I used to be

around him. Six years passed in a flash.

Now, finally, I saw his jealousy, but it

was too late.

I took my phone, trying to explain,

but Wanda was one step ahead of me.“It’s

probably Rosie’s friend! Girls often call

some bestie husband!”

I didn’t correct her. I went back to my

room and called Jake. He began with

small talk.

“Did you eat?”

“It’s been raining in Austin. What

about Dallas?”

entire life revolved around Grant, making

Jake impossible not to know about him.

I shook my head. A long silence made

Jake nervous. He was afraid I’d say yes
