"I'm trying on a dress," Ivy replied. "It's for your birthday party tomorrow. Since you called, I'll say it now. Happy early birthday, Grandpa. Wishing you many more healthy years ahead."

Roger burst into laughter. "I appreciate the thought. You and Nathan had better show up on time tomorrow."

Ivy didn't mention that Nathan had already left on a business trip. "Don't worry. We'll be there on time."

"Good. And make sure you take care of yourself. The child you're carrying is part of the Lowe family. That baby is very important."

"I know. I'll see you tomorrow."

Ivy hung up the call and gently placed a hand over her flat stomach. Tomorrow, the baby would go onto the battlefield with her.

Noelle and Kate had always been like a pair of tumors she could never quite cut out. She had tolerated them for years.

Ivy followed the associate back into the fitting room to change.
