I stood up and placed the bowl in the sink, my dad following step with me and repeating the same action with his cup. He patted my shoulder as he exited the kitchen and walked towards the living room.

"Let's get going. Don't want you to be late!"

I let out a soft groan, making sure that he didn't hear it. The last thing I wanted to do today was go early to my new school. I was a nerd enough already; having me come early before most of the other students was just plain....well, nerdy!

Reluctantly, I stepped forward and grabbed my bag off the floor, swinging it over my shoulder as I made my way towards the front door. My dad was already waiting for me there with his keys in his hand. I grabbed mine from where we usually held our keys on the coffee table and stepped out the door behind him. I locked the door behind me and went down the few steps to head towards the driveway. I may be 16, but I do have my license and I could easily drive anywhere I decided to. Yeah, yeah, I know it might seem a little too young for me to have one, but those were the perks of being a nerd. I got my permit just when I was turning 15 when I was sophomore and got my license a year later, which was just a few months back really. But even if I did have my license, my dad never allowed me to drive, even if he was with me. Talk about over protectiveness on his part.

It only took about ten minutes to get to my school, which was really a disappointment to me. As I looked up to the front entrance, I noticed the school's name: Black Forest High. Typical.

With a heavy sigh, I exited my dad's truck, giving him a small wave as he left me on my own. I may be 16, but now was really a good time to have my dad walk with me to the main office while holding my hand. I had to admit, that was extremely childish of me to even think of. I have done this many times before and yet here I am with clammy hands and butterflies flying freely around in my stomach without a care in the world. Maybe it was because it was my last year and senior year seemed to be important for many high school students.

I walked quickly towards the entrance, feeling curious stares bore onto my back as I made my way across the parking lot. I could've sworn I heard many conversations around me dwindle a bit as I walked. Great, now I'm the new talk of the school; but of course I will be. It was freaking October for crying out loud! It's not like it's the middle of the school year or anything, but a lot of time has already passed since the first day and I'm pretty sure this school was close to having it's Homecoming dance pretty soon.
