Jared lifted his head and looked at them. "I told you. Not enough."
Then he moved.
The purple figure left an afterimage across the void and appeared in front of the man with the twin blades in an instant.
The man did not even have time to react before the Dragonslayer Sword punched through his chest.
Purple chaos-flame poured off the blade and caught his body.
A shrill scream ripped out of him as the flame consumed him.
In front of the chaos-flame, his holy radiance held no better than paper. It was swallowed in an instant.
In less than a breath, all that was left of him was a pile of ash.
The first one was dead.
Jared pulled out the Dragonslayer Sword and turned to the man holding the greatsword.
The man's face twisted out of shape, and he hurriedly raised the greatsword to block.
The Dragonslayer Sword crashed into the greatsword.
Against the chaotic force, that weapon was no sturdier than rotten wood. It snapped apart on the spot.
The Dragonslayer Sword kept going and split the man in two.
Golden blood sprayed out and splashed across Jared's face.
He did not wipe it away.
The second one was dead.
Jared turned and looked at the man with the frostwhip.
The man had already been driven into utter soul-ruin. He spun around and ran.
Jared raised his left hand, and a purple thunder-spear condensed in his palm.
He hurled it.
The thunder-spear was as fast as lightning. It caught the man in an instant, drove in through his back, and burst out through his chest.
The man's body locked up in midair for a single beat.
Then it exploded and turned into a sky full of golden motes.
The third one died.
Jared turned to the last one left, the man holding the bow.
The man had already drawn it full, the arrow aimed straight at Jared's throat.
His hand shook.
His face had gone white with dread, but he still let the bowstring snap loose.
The arrow turned into a streak of silver-white light and shot straight for Jared's throat.
Jared didn't move.
He lifted two fingers and caught the arrow between them.
The arrow trembled at his fingertips.
The silver-white glow faded little by little.
Jared tossed the arrow aside like it was nothing and looked at the man.
"Your turn."
The man's face went paper-white. His legs gave out, and he dropped to the ground. "N-no... don't kill me... I surrender... I surrender..."
Jared looked at him and said nothing for a moment.
Then he raised the Dragonslayer Sword and brought it down in a single slash.
The fourth one died.
Four Upper Realm celestial warriors at True Immortal Realm Level Eight had rushed him, and from the moment Jared made his move to the moment all four were dead, less than ten breaths had passed.
From his first strike to the killing of four Level Eight True Immortals, everything had happened so fast that nobody's spiritual soul could keep up.
The purple figure cut through the Ancient Battlefield like death itself reaping lives, without leaving the slightest room to breathe.
Silence swallowed the Ancient Battlefield.
Even the wind seemed to stop.
Nothing remained except the sound of blood dripping and ashes drifting.
The celestial cultivators looked like the dead already. Whatever they had left to fight with had collapsed, and only bottomless dread remained in their eyes.
Everyone stared at Jared, the shock and dread in their eyes impossible to hide.
The celestial cultivators' legs went weak.
Some slumped to the ground. Some turned and ran. Some dropped to their knees and begged for mercy.
The beast-race warriors tightened their grip on their war axes, their eyes burning.
The Ghost Clan warriors straightened their backs, their eyes shining with barely contained excitement.
The demonic aura rolling around the demon cultivators slowly settled.
They stared at Jared with naked admiration in their eyes.
The human cultivators tightened their grips on their longswords.
Hope showed plainly in their faces.
The crushing weight that had been pressing on them for so long was swept clean away.
The arms clamped around the war axes bulged with veins. Fire rose in their eyes, the kind that only came with revenge, as if the first light of victory had finally broken through.
Hadrian Wolfhowe lay sprawled on the ground, staring at Jared's back while tears kept running down his face.
"Good kid... good kid..."
His voice shook.
