When Jared's sword came down, even an Ember God Palace disciple of Golden Immortal Level Three died in a single strike, without the slightest ability to fight back.

What did that mean?

It meant Jared's true combat strength had already far surpassed Golden Immortal Level Three.

It might even have gone beyond Golden Immortal Level Four, Level Five, and Level Six.

A terrifying thought rose in Gareth's mind.

Jared's current battle strength might already have reached Golden Immortal Level Six.

Maybe even higher.

The thought sent a chill through him so deep it felt like ice in his bones.

---

"Elders! Where are the elders? Move!"

Aurelius stood on the high dais and screamed himself hoarse. His red-gold eyes were webbed with blood, and desperation had driven his voice clear past reason into something frantic, almost deranged.

Dozens of elders from Ember God Palace charged out of the palace, every one of them above the Golden Immortal Realm. The strongest among them had reached Golden Immortal Level Four.

Flames roared over their bodies. The weapons in their hands blazed with scorching light as they rushed straight at Jared.

Jared lifted his head.

His violet eyes swept across the oncoming elders without a flicker of emotion.

Golden Immortal Level Four?

To him, Golden Immortal Level Four and the True Immortal Realm were no different.

Either way, one sword strike was enough.

He raised the Dragonslayer Sword.

A streak of violet blade-light split the sky and cut toward the elders.

Where the sword-light passed, black tears ripped open in space. Violent spatial turbulence surged out of them and devoured every fragment of the surrounding flame laws.

The three elders in front, all Golden Immortal Level Three, didn't even have time to react before the blade-light cleaved them in half.

Red-gold blood sprayed through the air like bursting fireworks, washing the entire square in gold.

The elders behind them were terrified out of their minds.

But there was nowhere left to run.

Jared appeared among them like a ghost. The Dragonslayer Sword turned in his hand, violet flashes strobing through the crowd, and every flash dropped another elder where he stood.

A Golden Immortal Level Three elder—one sword.

A Golden Immortal Level Four elder—one sword.

A peak Golden Immortal Level Four elder—one sword.

A Golden Immortal Level Five elder—two swords.

Jared realized the Level Five elders were noticeably stronger than the Level Four ones.

They took two strikes to kill.

But only two.

One sword or two made no real difference to him.

A short while later, all of the elders were down, sprawled in pools of blood.

Red-gold blood gathered into little streams across the square, sliding through the cracks in the flagstones until the whole plaza gleamed gold.

Aurelius stood on the high dais, watching his elders fall one after another, and absolute despair filled his red-gold eyes.

His whole body shook.

Not from fear—from rage.

Those elders were men he had spent tens of thousands of years cultivating.

They were the foundation of Ember God Palace.

Now they were all gone.

Every last one of them had died at Jared's hand.

"Jared!!!"

Aurelius let out a howl so savage it seemed to tear out of his chest. Blood flooded his red-gold eyes, and the flames on the Cinder Emperor's Blade surged several yards higher as scorching waves blasted outward in every direction.

"I'll kill you!!!"

He shot off the high dais and charged straight at Jared.

The Cinder Emperor's Blade whirled in his hand, and a red-gold arc of sword light slashed out like a giant dragon made of fire, crashing toward Jared.
