"Are we going to see Lucas?"

"I heard he broke something playing basketball today."

Every word Ava said only fueled Mason's anger even more.

Mason glared at Ava, and she quietly added, "He's the captain of the basketball team, and everyone says he has a thing for Chloe."

He didn't believe it, but all he could think about was how carefree Chloe had been just a moment ago.

Mason's anger was completely clouding his judgment.

With a loud slam, he shut the car door, not giving Chloe a chance to say anything.

Chloe watched through the car window as Mason walked away with Ava, getting farther and farther from her.

She muttered to herself, "It's my dad. Let me out, I need to see my dad..."

She kept calling him, but he kept hanging up.

She texted him, explaining that she needed to see her dad, but he still didn't believe her.

At the concert, Mason was distracted, even though the atmosphere was electric.

His mind was growing more and more frustrated, restless.

He had to see for himself who Chloe was really going to visit at the hospital.

As he thought about it, he got up and decided to head to the hospital.

Ava reluctantly followed him out.

When they got to the car, she found the window smashed, and Chloe was nowhere to be found.

Mason's eyes turned red.

He had never seen Chloe so stubborn and determined.

He called Chloe again, but before he could speak, she answered.

"Mason, if I miss this today... I'll never forgive you."

Her voice was full of resentment.

"Chloe, you're just giving yourself too much credit," Mason snapped, anger spilling out.

Before he could say anything else, Chloe had already hung up.
