Chapter 435: A Robbery That Reveals the Truth (I)

Edmund didn’t even need to try hard to get rid of the three bandits who were trying to steal Talia’s money. All he did was grab each of them by the collar and throw them out of the bakery as if they weighed nothing.

"W–Who... who the hell are you?!" one of the bandits shouted after he stumbled back to his feet. His face twisted with anger, and anyone could see he wanted to chop Edmund’s head off right then and there.

But the Lycan King remained completely calm, almost bored, even. When he turned his head slightly, he noticed a patrol soldier hiding behind a large tree outside.

He frowned. Why was that soldier just standing there, doing nothing, while bandits were robbing the bakery?

Before Edmund could say a word, the soldier slowly stepped back... and then ran for his life.

Edmund let out a tired sigh. "Why do people always drag me into political problems like this?"

He then whistled twice, and the beast soldier who had been following him silently from the shadows stepped forward. "Yes, Your Majesty."

"Catch that soldier, but don’t hurt him," Edmund ordered. His eyes shifted toward the patrol guard who was running farther and farther away. Still, it would be impossible for him to escape the beast soldier.

Edmund opened the bakery door again. "Miss Talia, do you have any rope?"

Talia—who had been gripping a metal baking tray like a weapon—jumped when Edmund suddenly spoke to her.

She dropped the tray and nodded quickly. "Y-Yes, I have rope!"

While Edmund was talking to Talia, the bandits tried to run away. However, they were thrown right back in front of the Lycan King by the Noctvaris soldier, who had already caught the fleeing patrol guard.

"Your Majesty, do you want me to tie them up?" he asked.

Edmund nodded. "Put them somewhere they can’t be seen from inside the bakery." He hissed when the Noctvaris soldier removed their masks. "Their faces will ruin my wife’s beautiful day."

He added, "After that, report this case to the soldiers guarding Illvaris’s border. Tell them one of their comrades has been working with bandits."

The Noctvaris soldier tried to nod, but paused for a moment. "But, Your Majesty... they probably won’t listen to a report from... the beast."

Instead of believing him, the humans might even think the beast was spreading lies to improve their reputation.

"You don’t have to worry about that," Primrose said. "They will believe you."

She had been watching everything from a distance, but finally stepped forward to see the faces of the bandits who had tried to rob her favorite bakery.

"Tell them that I and Miss Talia can testify that these bandits tried to rob her," she suggested. "They might not trust the words of a beast, but I don’t think they’ll ignore it if the Duke’s daughter is involved."

After all, most of the soldiers had watched Primrose grow up in this city, so they knew her well. Some of them would even do anything to protect her, so if they found out bandits nearly hurt her, they definitely wouldn’t stay quiet.
