Primrose soaked her feet in warm water after changing into her nightgown. She finally let out a sigh of relief. Her gown had been heavy, and the corset felt a little too tight.

"I probably shouldn’t wear a corset anymore after this," Primrose said as she gently rubbed her belly. "My stomach is getting bigger. Husband, do you think it looks bigger?"

Edmund was kneeling on the floor as he washed her feet. He looked up at her and smiled. "It just means our child is growing well." He set the towel aside and pressed his ear against her belly. "Our baby’s heartbeat sounds stronger now. How about you?" Then he rested his ear on her chest. "You sound fine too."

Primrose giggled and gently pushed him away. "Of course I’m fine. You’ve taken such good care of me."

His efforts—giving her his saliva and sending magic into her body every night—were finally showing results.

Dr. Celdric had warned them that the pregnancy would become more difficult as the baby grew, but Primrose hoped they would find more ways to make sure both she and their child stayed safe.

"I’ll take care of you even more from now on," Edmund said.

"Husband," she said softly. She cupped his face and brushed his slightly damp hair, still wet from his bath. "I know your time at the palace wasn’t pleasant. Even I got bored there. But what about the city? Did you enjoy it? Some people still don’t like you... but at least the children were happy to see you now."

Edmund finally stood from the floor and gently guided his wife back onto the bed so they could lie beside each other, even though their feet were still dangling over the edge.

He turned onto his side and rested his head on one hand. "Actually, I’m happy as long as I can stay with you."

Primrose chuckled softly and rolled her eyes. "I know you think more than that. Come on, don’t let your wolf hide your real thoughts from me."

Edmund pulled her closer by the waist, bringing her into his arms. Primrose bent her legs slightly, curling up beside him like a cat.

"I just want to be sure you didn’t feel pressured or upset because I made you come to the festival," she added gently.

"Made me?" Edmund brushed her cheek with his thumb, then played with a strand of her wavy hair. "My wife, wasn’t I the one who opened the carriage door for you?"

"Yes, that’s true." Primrose smiled. "But it must have been difficult for you since there were so many people in the city."

Primrose knew Edmund didn’t like crowds. Unfortunately, she couldn’t stop herself from talking to so many people she knew well, so he ended up talking to them too.

"It was hard," Edmund admitted. "But it was also fun because you were with me. Maybe I don’t like talking to many people because I don’t usually feel safe. But with you... I do. I really do."

Primrose snuggled closer to him until she was completely wrapped in his arms. She whispered, "I’m glad to hear that." Then she added softly, "I’m happy to be with you too."

Edmund only hummed in response, knowing his wife was about to fall asleep. He gently patted her back and slowly guided her to rest her head on the pillow.
