Franco's lips curled into a smile. Anthony sure sounded natural calling him Dad now.
“We’re not going back to the Gates place yet. We need to deal with Lottie first.” Charlotte had been through so much without her parents to protect her. It was honestly heartbreaking.
“Got it.” Anthony’s voice was calm and respectful. “I’ve already arranged for Steven’s family to meet us at Cabinda University. It’ll be easier to handle things there.”
“Where’s Lottie?” Franco asked.
“She’s at Cabinda University with her professor, working on an experiment. She asked me to come pick you up.”
So everyone was at Cabinda University? That was surprisingly convenient. Franco couldn’t help but smile. Anthony always said he’d stay out of things and let them handle it, but he still made sure everything was in place. He was nothing if not thorough.
“Alright, we’ll be out in a minute.”
After hanging up, Franco turned to Nora and fastened her trench coat for her. “Don’t get too worked up, okay?”
“Okay.” Nora nodded, then cleared her throat and lowered her voice. “Pass me the laptop.”
“What do you need it for?” Franco asked, even as he opened the laptop and set it in front of her without hesitation.
The plane was already taxiing. Time was tight.
Nora didn’t answer. She just started typing, her fingers flying across the keys with practiced ease. In less than ten minutes, a three-thousand-word exposé filled the screen. Most of it was about her agreement with Steven all those years ago.
Franco stared, wide-eyed. He knew Nora was a genius when it came to medical research, and he knew she dabbled in other things, but he’d never realized she was such a pro with computers.
