Kenneth tossed his watermelon rind into the trash, crossed his arms, and shot Anthony a mischievous grin. “Anthony, aren’t you going to step in here?” With Lottie looking this furious, it honestly seemed like someone could get seriously hurt.

Anthony’s mouth curled into a small, knowing smile. His eyes sparkled as he replied, all fake seriousness, “I’d never dare. I don’t have any authority in this household. Maybe you should try talking to her?” He arched an eyebrow, teasing.

Kenneth rolled his eyes, trying to look tough, but his words betrayed him. “You think I’d actually dare?”

He went quiet after that.

“Olivia, give me your phone. I’m calling the cops!” As Charlotte strode toward her, Olivia’s hands shook and her voice trembled with panic. “A student from Kingswood University just tried to kill me!” she yelled.

Her friend, a server, fumbled to take out her phone. Her fingers were shaking so badly she almost dropped it, staring wide-eyed at the group in front of her.

“Hurry up and call!” Olivia was practically shouting now, desperation rising as Charlotte closed the distance.

“I…” The friend hesitated, frozen for a moment. But before she could do anything, Charlotte leaned down, calmly took the phone from her hand, dialed the emergency number, and then placed it right back in Olivia’s palm.

“When this is over, we’ll call together,” Charlotte said.

Olivia froze, completely dumbfounded. It wasn’t even over yet?

Charlotte’s words sent a chill down Olivia’s spine. She clenched her fists, trying to tamp down the panic. “So what? You’re really going to use your connections to bully me?” she spat. “There are security cameras everywhere. Even if the police show up, Stella started it. I’m the victim here.”

“Cameras?” Charlotte stepped up to Olivia, hands in her pockets, her eyes shadowed and cold. She looked like she was made of pure ice, radiating an intensity that made Olivia’s heart skip a beat.

Without another word, Charlotte pulled one hand free, grabbed the trash can beside her, and swung it hard at the nearest security camera. The crash echoed through the room as the camera shattered to pieces.
