N Organization and X Organization had been enemies for as long as anyone could remember. The two groups just couldn’t seem to coexist. Even a few months ago, they almost went to war over a cargo ship that got seized.
Now, X Organization had shown up on the Isle of Veil, supposedly to back up Charlotte? It was just ridiculous. They had to be here because they heard N Organization was stuck in Solenia and wanted in on the action.
“Did they come together?” Aloys asked, his tone low as he glanced at Charlotte. She looked completely unbothered by the chaos.
“No,” the bodyguard replied, respectful as always. “X Organization came from Apex. N Organization came from the Isle of Veil.”
Everything had happened so quickly. They didn’t even get a chance to seal off the access route before both groups arrived, one after the other. It was N Organization that blew up the lab, too.
“Bring in more people. I want to see what he’s planning.” Aloys clenched his fists, the air around him practically humming with tension. He stood silent for a few seconds before speaking again, his voice cold and determined.
He hoped X Organization would know better than to get involved. If they didn’t, he’d deal with both N Organization and X Organization at once. With the research institute gone, Allanson would probably lose it and go after Charlotte.
…
At the same time, inside the main hall of Hawk Estate, Allanson sat stiffly on the sofa, watching the replay of the election assembly. When he heard Charlotte say, “Mrs. W’s granddaughter has the right to inherit,” he just froze. Shock was written all over his weathered face.
So Mrs. W really did go to Cabinda? And she had a granddaughter? To make things even crazier, that granddaughter was his own granddaughter? Life really knew how to play a joke on him.
Allanson couldn’t accept it. He needed to find Charlotte and get to the bottom of this. He stood up too quickly, accidentally knocking over the table in front of him. The teacup crashed to the floor and shattered. He stumbled, almost losing his balance.
“Allanson.” The butler walked in just in time to see the scene and rushed to steady him. “Are you all right, sir?”
