Charlotte checked Morton over, just to make sure he was okay, before finally letting herself relax. She settled into a seat nearby, watching him put his toy together, casual and at ease. Whenever he got stuck, she’d lean in and show him what to do.

Anthony came downstairs, catching the cozy scene in front of him. For a second, his heart missed a beat. He couldn’t help but picture this as their future—a family, just like this.

He tried to imagine Charlotte as a mom. Their kid would be the cutest, smartest baby on earth, no question. Seeing the bright smile on her face, Anthony’s expression softened. He pulled out his phone and sent a quick text to Dr. David.
