Marcia’s brows drew tight, her fingers curling into her palms as a chill settled in her eyes. “Just stay put. Whatever happens, don’t let anyone find out where you are.”

She had really underestimated Charlotte. In just two days, Charlotte had managed to connect with DM, even convincing them to launch a huge search and risk going up against the Hawk family for her. Marcia never saw that coming.

“They’re searching all of Novaria for me. It’s only a matter of time before someone finds me,” Olivia said, her whole body shaking. She bit down hard, trying and failing to steady herself. “I’ll give you one more day,” she whispered, fear thick in her voice.

“If I can’t get out of Novaria safely by then, I’ll destroy the bracelet.” If Charlotte was going to take everything from her, Olivia would drag her down too. She’d rather lose it all than let Charlotte win. If she had to die, at least Charlotte would go down with her.

Early the next morning, Charlotte blinked awake and reached over, almost out of habit, to the spot beside her. No sign of Anthony. She frowned, pulling back the covers and getting ready to get up.

Right then, the door swung open. Anthony stepped in, carrying a tray of breakfast. He caught her questioning look and headed over, setting the tray down on the bedside table.

He leaned in, hands on either side of her, looking down at her with a teasing smile. “Why are you staring at me like that? You’re going to make me overthink things.”

Charlotte grinned, grabbed him by the collar, and tugged him closer, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Go ahead, let’s see you overthink.”

Anthony stared at her, totally lost. He didn’t get her joke, and his dark eyes narrowed with confusion.

Before he could say anything, someone knocked on the door. Hans’s voice came through. “Anthony, we’ve got news.”

Anthony grabbed a napkin and gently wiped the corner of Charlotte’s mouth before answering in a low voice, “What is it?”

Hans’s voice was quick. “We tracked Olivia’s contact. It’s Marcia. She’s gotten smart, though. She wipes all traces right after every call, and Olivia shuts her phone off immediately.”
