The man tossed Olivia’s phone onto the bed and popped open a giant suitcase. His voice was low and serious as he looked at her. “Get in.”

Olivia hesitated. She didn’t know this guy, not even his name. “Who are you?”

“Doesn’t matter who I am. All you need to know is my boss can keep you alive.”

She hesitated, weighing her options. If she went with him, maybe she’d have a shot at making it out. If she didn’t, she knew she was done for.

After a split second of doubt, Olivia climbed into the suitcase. The man closed it up and wheeled her out of the motel without another word.

Once he was sure they were in the clear, he pulled out his phone and called someone, speaking with quiet respect. “Damaris, I’ve got her.”

Tracking the signal was easy. It led straight to the basement of a shabby little motel.

The radar showed the target was still here.

“Open the door.”

Charlotte’s order was calm and sharp. The door flew open as Jackson and Adonis stormed in with their crew.

“Charlotte, she’s gone,” Jackson said after checking every corner.

Charlotte didn’t answer. She walked straight to the old, gray wardrobe, yanked it open, and stared inside. There was nothing but a single white phone lying on the empty shelf.

No sign of Olivia anywhere.

Adonis raked his fingers through his hair, his voice rough with frustration. “Damn it, she slipped away.”

Charlotte stayed silent. She picked up the phone and read the message on the screen, her face turning colder with every word.

Charlotte, you’re too late. Hope the next time we meet is at your funeral.
