Charlotte listened quietly.

“The antidote will be ready soon, but since you’re pregnant, you can’t be part of the clinical trials. We really didn’t have any other choice.” Dr. David let out a soft sigh. “Anthony loves you so much, it’s in his bones.”

Charlotte felt her heart sink. “Based on the test results, Anthony’s missing a gene. With his genetic profile incomplete, we can’t use him for testing.”

“But there’s still Mr. Churchill, isn’t there?” Dr. David chimed in.

“Get a vial of AH52 ready and send it over to Imperial Heights.”

AH52 was a compound she’d stumbled across in her research. It helped ease the early symptoms of genetic mutation. She never thought she’d end up using it on Anthony.

After the call, Charlotte set her phone down and walked over to the water dispenser. She poured herself a glass of warm water and tried to steady her nerves.

About half an hour later, Hans brought the medicine upstairs. He found Anthony standing completely still, facing the wall. Hans’s lips twitched. Everyone in the villa already knew Anthony had made Charlotte angry and was being punished by facing the wall. He’d never seen anything like this before.

Hans almost spoke up, but when Anthony shot him a cold look, he thought better of it. He handed the medicine to Charlotte and quietly went back downstairs.

Was Charlotte really going to make Anthony stand in the corner for hours?

Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through Anthony’s chest, and it felt like his whole body was on fire. The aftereffects of the genetic mutation were hitting him hard. Strangely, he was a little relieved that Lottie wasn’t there to see him like this.

In the room, Charlotte mixed the AH52 into some warm water, testing it a few times to make sure it was safe. She opened the door and immediately saw Anthony slumped against the wall, his face pale and drawn.

As soon as he heard the door, Anthony forced himself to look normal. He managed a faint smile. “Why are you out here?”

He hid his pain perfectly.
