If Anthony hadn’t said it himself, that he was the one chasing after Lottie, no one would have doubted that Lottie was the one who made the first move. Charlotte was always so distant, so cool with everyone. But when she was around Anthony, she transformed into the sweetest, most innocent girl.

On the other side of the room, Franco pulled out his phone and handed it to Anthony. There was a new text from Allanson. The message was simple. Basically, it said if they wanted the antidote, Franco had to trade Solenia for it.

“Someone’s greedy,” Anthony said, a faint smile playing on his lips. But his eyes flashed with something dangerous. “Dad, I need to know how you really feel about the Hawk Family.” He’d let them off the hook before, just because of family ties.

Franco glanced over at Nora and Lottie chatting on the sofa. His heart felt full just looking at them. “For me, Nora and Lottie are everything. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for them.” He turned to Anthony, his face all seriousness. “If it came down to it, I’d give up anything. Not just Solenia, even my own life. If Aloys wanted it, I wouldn’t hesitate.”

If things really got ugly, there was no reason to keep pretending with the Hawk Family.

Anthony’s eyes narrowed. “I don’t think Solenia or the N Organization is what Allanson really wants.” If that was the case, he wouldn’t have waited so long. As for what he actually wanted, it was anyone’s guess right now.

“I’m coming with you this time.” Franco shoved his hands into his pockets, his voice low and cold. “We need to settle this, once and for all.”

Anthony nodded, his tone icy. “This trip’s not going to be easy.” As long as it didn’t hurt Charlotte or her pregnancy, he was ready to risk the whole X Organization if he had to.

Later that night, after Nora and Franco had gone to bed, Charlotte went back to her room. She pushed open the door and saw Anthony standing by the window, his back to her.

Charlotte smiled and walked over, sliding her fingers into his, their hands fitting together perfectly. “Mom wants us to sleep in separate rooms.”

She was sick until her face turned pale.

“Hey, are you okay?” Anthony hurried after her, wrapping her up and rubbing her back, his voice full of worry.

“I just said they were a free gift, and now they’re protesting already,” Charlotte grumbled, leaning into his chest with a bitter taste in her mouth, her brow furrowed. “How dare they make me throw up!”

Anthony smiled helplessly and tapped her belly, trying to soothe her. “If you make your mom sick again, just wait and see what I’ll do.”

As soon as he said it, the queasy feeling in her stomach faded away.
