“Lottie!”

“Lottie!”

Charlotte broke from her safe spot and dove into the chaos without a second thought. Franco and Nora shouted her name, voices tight with panic, but nothing could hold her back. She only had eyes for Anthony.

The hall was a mess. Solenia, X Organization, N Organization, the Churchills, and the Hawks—everyone was caught up in a wild, desperate fight. Gunshots cracked through the air, so loud they rattled your bones. The smell of burning and blood was everywhere, thick enough to choke you.

Someone tried to come at Anthony from behind. Charlotte didn’t even think. She kicked the guy so hard he went flying, but the sudden movement sent a sharp pain tearing across her lower stomach. She winced, but forced herself to ignore it. She squeezed the trigger and another attacker dropped, shot in both legs.

“Lottie, get over here!” Anthony’s voice cut through the noise. He saw her handling the gun like she’d been born with it, moving fast and fierce. His eyelid twitched. She was still pregnant…

Anthony shoved a body out of his way and rushed to her side. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into his arms, holding her close. Jackson and Adonis stepped in front of them, forming a barrier without needing to be told.

“What are you doing out here?” Anthony’s face had gone pale, voice shaking with anger and fear. “What if something happens to you?”

Charlotte looked at him, caught off guard by his outburst. Her eyes went wide, then she instantly looked hurt, lips trembling.

Seeing her like that made Anthony’s heart ache. He realized he’d been too harsh and instantly regretted it.

“I…” He fumbled for words, then gently cradled her face and pressed a soft kiss to her cheek. His voice turned sweet and apologetic. “I’m not mad, I promise. I’m just worried about you, that’s all.”

“Oh.” Charlotte’s answer was barely a whisper. She bit her lip, glancing away.

The shot missed.

Newell saw Charlotte safe in Anthony’s protection and let out a shaky breath. He kept calling out directions. “Right, three o’clock!”

Anthony’s eyes went cold. He turned, found the angle, and fired without hesitation, trusting Newell’s instructions. The bullet struck Aloys in the leg. He went down hard, writhing in agony.

Before Aloys could even think about getting up, members of N Organization closed in, guns pointed at his head.

Aloys froze, all the fight draining out of him. His eyes were red with rage and defeat.

Franco stepped forward, voice cold and steady. “Still want to keep fighting? Stand down now and you might live. Or you can die here, it’s your call.”
