“Come on, show me what you’ve got!” Kenneth grinned, his charming smile lighting up his face. As he glanced over at Anthony—who was sitting right next to Charlotte, peeling fruit and feeding her like she was royalty—Kenneth cleared his throat and gave Anthony a not-so-subtle warning. “Anthony, no holding grudges after this, alright?”

Anthony flashed a sly smile, his eyes narrowing just a bit, mischief written all over his good-looking face. “Don’t worry. I said I’d play fair, and a bet’s a bet.” He glanced at Charlotte and added, “We all get how this works.”

“Glad to hear it.” Kenneth rolled up his sleeves, determination in his eyes, then turned to Emily and put on his usual goofy act. “Babe, watch me win some cash for you.”

Emily looked up just in time to catch Charlotte’s gaze, cool and collected as she studied her cards. There was something different about her now, a confidence that hadn’t been there before. Honestly, at this point, no one could guess who would actually end up with the prize money. Nobody knew until the last hand was played.

The cards were shuffled again, and the first round went by. Charlotte lost—again—but not by much, just around three hundred thousand. She didn’t seem the least bit bothered though. Instead, she leaned in, eyes thoughtful and focused, quietly figuring things out as the others played.

The next few rounds changed everything. Suddenly, Charlotte was on fire. She kept winning, round after round, her cards lining up in ways that made everyone’s jaw drop. After three hands, she was up by ten million.

“Ready for another?” she said, cool as ever.

The three brothers just stared at her, totally stunned.

“Hang on.” Kenneth, looking seriously reluctant, pushed the money toward her. He swallowed, looked at her, and half-joked, “Lottie, didn’t you say you didn’t know how to play?”

Charlotte smiled, her eyes bright with laughter. “I didn’t. Learned fast, though.” She pushed her winnings into Anthony’s hands without a care.

Kenneth was speechless, his eyes wide like he couldn’t believe what he’d just seen.

Anthony jumped in, grinning. “What’s wrong, Kenneth? Thinking about backing out? Regretting your bet?”
