Anthony had only been trying to bring Andrew down a notch last night. Charlotte glanced over, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “For every point he scores above the passing grade, I’ll pay the tutor a hundred thousand.”
A hundred thousand? Andrew stared in disbelief. If he scored eighty or a hundred points over, wouldn't that totally wipe someone out?
Anthony turned, catching Charlotte’s smug, toe-tapping pose, and gave a crooked little smile. “Alright,” he said. Then he added, “But we’ll take it out of Andrew’s allowance.”
Andrew just felt defeated. Still, thinking about Shirley’s family, he figured, whatever. It’s only money. He could always earn more.
They got out of the car and walked into school, one behind the other. Steven, who had just dropped Olivia off at the gate, spotted them and almost did a double take.
“Wait, is that Andrew?”
“It is,” Olivia replied, her voice icy with disdain. Charlotte was always trying to cozy up to Andrew, so seeing them together was nothing new.
“The car that dropped them off looked like one of the Blair family’s,” Steven said. “I think that was Anthony’s personal sports car.”
Anthony’s car? Anthony Blair, CEO of The Blair Group? The name immediately brought back the memory of the man Olivia had seen at school—tall, handsome, confident, and seriously wealthy. He was the most sought-after bachelor in all of Cabinda.
Seriously? Charlotte thought. Just my luck. Still, she was dressed down with a mask on, so there was no way he’d recognize her. She stepped out, confident, but barely made it a few steps before Kenneth’s voice called out in surprise, “Lottie, what are you doing here?”
Charlotte sighed and looked up, her bright eyes giving her away. Before she could answer, a young woman hurried over. “Are you here to audition for the dubbing artist spot?” she asked, sounding excited. Tons of people had come in to audition for supporting roles today, and rumor had it the person showing up tonight had the most amazing voice of all.
Audition? She was here to talk about her pay!
“A voiceover audition?” Kenneth shot Charlotte a look, then grabbed her and pulled her into his dressing room, already pulling out his phone in frustration. “What’s Anthony’s problem? He can’t take care of you?” How could Anthony let Charlotte come out so late, looking for a part-time job? If Anthony couldn’t support her, Kenneth thought, then he’d just take her home himself and do it.
