“Get out,” Anthony said, his voice cold enough to make everyone tense. His staff nearly tripped over themselves trying to escape the room. Six months away, and the man was even scarier than before.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Anthony rubbed his brow and reached for his phone in the drawer. It was only noon, and he’d already checked it twenty times. Like Hans warned, there was nothing from Charlotte. No calls, no texts, not even a single notification on social media. She’d gone totally silent on him.

Anthony frowned, a cloud settling over his sharp features. He stood and wandered to the huge window, scrolling to Charlotte’s number. After a few rings, all he got was a stiff, automated message.

“The number you have dialed is currently unavailable…”

She should have just finished class, probably eating lunch. He narrowed his eyes, lips pressed in a straight line, and hung up. Then he called Andrew.

The phone barely rang twice before Andrew picked up. “Anthony.”

“What’s Lottie doing? Why can’t I reach her?”

Andrew gripped his phone, palms sweating. Every word felt risky. “Charlotte’s... taking a nap.”

“Should I wake her up for you?” Andrew offered, half-expecting Anthony would never let him disturb her.

Anthony checked his watch. His tone was gentle but edged with disappointment. “Let her sleep.”

She really didn’t miss him at all. Heartless little thing.

“Oh, right, Anthony... can I get some pocket money?” Andrew tried, but immediately sensed the chill from the other side. He quickly added, “I mean, to buy snacks for Charlotte.”

“Alright.” Anthony barely looked up as he opened her social media, typing in a transfer—two million. A warning popped up. Daily limit: two hundred thousand. He sighed and deleted a zero.

“Anthony, I didn’t get any transfer notification,” Andrew said, confused.

Anthony turned, hand in his pocket, voice rougher than usual. “Let’s go downstairs.”

He needed something, anything, to keep his mind off Charlotte.

Meanwhile, Charlotte and her friends had just hopped out of the car, handing the keys to the valet.

“Charlotte, are you sure nobody at Netherworld Casino will recognize you?” Adonis whispered, walking alongside Jackson. The last time she was here, she nearly burned the whole place down.

Charlotte just flashed a sly smile. “So what if they do?”

As she stepped through the entrance, she didn’t notice the server passing by with a tray. Their shoulders bumped.

Glasses and drinks crashed to the floor, the noise snapping everyone’s attention her way.
