“Charlotte.”

The moment Olivia spotted her, she broke down in tears. “I’m sorry. I know I messed up. Please, just forgive me. Don’t let the school expel me.”

Exams were less than a month away. If she got expelled now, everything she’d worked for would be over.

Charlotte just stood there, her face blank and cold.

“So, is this why you called me? Just to watch her cry?” Charlotte’s voice was icy.

Steven’s face clouded over. Elizabeth didn’t hesitate at all. She dropped to her knees right there on the floor.

“Charlotte…”

“If you’re hoping for my forgiveness, you’re wasting your time,” Charlotte said, hands stuffed in her pockets, her gaze fixed on Elizabeth. There was a bored coldness in her voice. “Because I’m not forgiving her. Olivia has to leave Vanguard High.”

That shut Steven and Elizabeth up. They looked stunned, like they’d run into a wall.

“So…” Charlotte raised an eyebrow, her tone almost lazy, “you could kneel until your knees are raw, cry until you pass out, but it wouldn’t change a thing for me.”

“Charlotte!” Elizabeth’s eyes were rimmed red. “How can you be this cruel? Olivia said she didn’t mean to do it.”

“You only got a few harsh words thrown at you online. You didn’t lose anything. But if you keep going like this, Olivia’s future is over. I’m already on my knees. What more do you want from me?”

Eleanor couldn’t stand it anymore. Her face was tight with anger. “Elizabeth, all of this started because Olivia spread those awful rumors. Charlotte got dragged through the mud online and nearly drowned from the hate. And you just want to let it go?”

“And another thing. Charlotte is your daughter too. How can you ignore what’s right and defend Olivia when she’s clearly in the wrong?” Eleanor’s eyes flashed. She also knew that the guy who hurt Charlotte was one of Elizabeth’s relatives. Who knows what really happened back then.

Charlotte glanced over at Eleanor, surprised by her support.

Then his phone buzzed. He glanced down and went pale. The message was clear. His bank account was frozen, all his properties and assets locked up. He had nothing left.

“Charlotte, was this you?” Steven clutched his phone, shaking so badly he could barely keep hold of it. His voice was raw with disbelief. She really was going to leave her own father with nothing.

“You little monster!” Steven shouted. He lunged at Charlotte, hand raised, ready to slap her. “I’ll kill you, you ungrateful brat!”

“Charlotte, watch out!” Eleanor called out.

But the slap never landed. Steven’s wrist was stopped in mid-air.

A tall, dark figure stepped in, casting a shadow over everything.

Anthony’s voice was low and cold, echoing through the office. “Who do you think you are, laying a hand on my girl?”
