Since this was supposed to be a negotiation, that’s what they were doing. If it weren’t, N and his people would’ve been dead the second they set foot in the base.
Charlotte swirled her drink, a lazy smile tugging at her lips. “So, what’s this? You’ve all decided to go legit now?”
Hans didn’t have a clue how to respond.
“Go get him. He’s got five minutes.”
The way she said it, so calm but so commanding, left Hans totally speechless. He’d never met anyone who could outdo Anthony in terms of sheer attitude.
Once Hans left, Charlotte took a slow sip of her tea and let her eyes wander around the room. She finally noticed a desk across from her, buried under stacks of documents. But what really caught her attention was a plain wooden picture frame.
Setting her cup down, she strolled over. Her slender fingers brushed the frame, turning it gently.
A familiar face looked back at her from the photo.
There she was, Charlotte, dressed in soft pink pajamas. Her black hair spilled over her shoulders, thick and glossy like a waterfall. She cradled a gray pillow, eyes half closed, nose perfectly shaped, lips a soft shade of red—the whole effect delicate and shockingly beautiful.
Her fingertips trembled just a little. A smile played at her lips. When had he taken this photo? She honestly couldn’t remember. And he kept it right here, on his desk at the base. Maybe she should swing by The Blair Group’s office sometime—who knew what other surprises he was hiding.
“Put that down!”
Lost in her thoughts, Charlotte was startled by a cold, harsh voice behind her, followed by the clatter of hurried footsteps. Anthony was suddenly right there, grabbing the frame from her hands before she could even react.
“Alright.” Charlotte kept smiling. She sat down, crossed her legs, and lifted her chin to look at Anthony. “Let’s get down to it.”
“N Organization picked a fight with X Organization first,” Anthony said, his voice icy and flat. “You destroyed our cargo. Our response was justified. If you want to walk out of here with your people, you’re going to have to give me a reason.”
He waited, but N just stared at him, not saying a word. Anthony’s frown deepened.
“What’s the problem?”
“No problem,” Charlotte replied, her tone light. Her lips curled in a careless smile. “I was just thinking… you’re actually pretty handsome.”
The look on Anthony’s face shifted from cold to absolutely murderous. Was he actually getting hit on by a guy?
