“You’d really do anything I ask?”

Janie took her time before looking up, her voice scratchy and almost too soft to hear. “Yes.” Her eyes were red as she nodded.

If she could just get through this, she’d have plenty of chances to make this bitch pay later.

“Alright.” Stella shoved Fedelia’s hand away, her eyes cold and sharp. She spoke slowly, her words like ice. “Then go die.”

The room went silent. You could hear a pin drop.

In the corner, Charlotte touched her nose, almost impressed.

Janie stared at Stella, disbelief written all over her face. Her voice shook. “What did you just say?”

“Stella, say that again!” Mahoney’s face darkened. He stormed toward Stella, but before he could get close, someone blocked his way.

Donald stepped forward, his presence chilling the air. “This is The White Whale Training Base. This isn’t a place for you to throw a tantrum. Take one more step and I’ll toss you out myself.”

Mahoney looked around at everyone in the room, his gaze lingering on the girl next to Stella. She didn’t seem like just anybody, and he couldn’t figure out how Stella, who had always lived in the countryside, knew someone like her.

Donald turned to Officer Potter. “Do your job. Take Janie in for questioning. I’ll handle everything else.” He glanced at Saul. “Call The Cabinda University. Tell them to expel Janie.”

Janie scrambled to her feet, panic all over her face. She forgot about her injured leg and ended up collapsing back down, her face twisted in pain. “Why do you get to decide if I’m expelled? Is it because you and Charlotte are hooking up? Are you just protecting her friends?”

She glared at Charlotte. “Charlotte isn’t innocent either. She’s got a boyfriend, but she’s still stringing you along and flirting with Everlot at the same time!”

Charlotte said nothing, stunned. Anthony was just as speechless.

Donald just smiled coldly. “Why? Because I’m L. And what I say goes at The White Whale Training Base.”

“Stella…” Mahoney tried to plead with her. “You’re family. Can’t you just let her off this once?”

Stella didn’t even flinch. “Sure. Then you die in her place.” She walked over to Charlotte, her eyes icy as she looked at Mahoney’s shocked face. “You die for her, and I’ll let her go.”

“I’m your father!”

“I thought you were Janie’s father,” Stella replied, her voice flat. “I’ll be pressing charges against Janie for intentional injury. If you have more to say, take it up with my lawyer.”

She turned to Charlotte. “Come on. There are too many disgusting people here.”

Charlotte gave her a proud little nod, patting Stella’s head before taking her hand. Together, they walked out.

Anthony watched their hands, his eyes narrowing, something dark flickering inside them.
