When his grandmother spoke, Anthony paused, his brow twitching as he thought it over for a couple of seconds. Then a small, knowing smile appeared on his lips.

He got it.

“Robert, let’s grab dinner together sometime. We can talk then.”

Robert was a bit thrown off. He just nodded, still confused, and agreed without really thinking.

The call ended, and before he could process any of it, the butler appeared at his side, holding out a beautifully crafted box.

“Mr. Gates, someone dropped this off outside. They said it’s a birthday gift, and you’re supposed to open it yourself.”

A birthday present?

He glanced outside at the line of trucks loaded with gifts. Wasn’t all that enough?

Robert took the box, still thinking about the last time Anthony visited. Back then, he’d brought a whole truckload of stuff too. This family really didn’t hold back.

He pressed his lips together, expecting some rare treasure inside. But when he opened the box, he found a thick stack of paperwork instead.

On top, the biggest letters read: Stock Transfer Agreement.

Stocks?

Robert frowned, pulling out the rest of the documents. Each one was different. There were stock transfers, real estate deeds, bank transfer records, even receipts for newly bought funds and stocks. All of it was in Lottie’s name.

Just a quick glance told him this was worth more than anyone could casually imagine. Easily over a billion.

Looking at everything, a thought struck Robert. He quickly called for the other birthday gift Anthony had sent.

He was right.
