Evening had settled over Imperial Heights, the city lights casting a warm glow through the windows. Charlotte slowly opened her eyes, taking in the soft shadows dancing across the room. Anthony was nowhere to be seen. She frowned, pushing the covers aside, ready to get up.
Just then, the door swung open. Anthony appeared, tall and lean in a gray bathrobe, his presence filling the space as he walked over.
“You’re awake?” He sat down beside her and gently pulled her into his arms, brushing his nose against hers with a teasing smile. “Are you hungry?”
His voice was low and a little rough, the sound of it making Charlotte unconsciously lean closer. She bit her lip, nestling against him.
“Tomorrow’s Monday,” she murmured.
“Yeah, Monday,” he replied, letting her rest against his chest. He reached up and tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, revealing her delicate neck.
“Are you going to Solenia next weekend?” he asked, his hand moving in slow, soothing circles on her back. “Should I book you a hotel, or will you stay at N Organization’s place?”
N Organization’s headquarters were in Solenia.
“I’m not staying there,” Charlotte mumbled, eyes still closed, her voice lazy and soft. “Those old guys never stop nagging. It’s exhausting.”
Anthony let out a quiet laugh. “Alright. I’ll have Hans set up a hotel for you. Jackson and Adonis will go with you. That way, no one will give you trouble.”
If anyone tried, they’d regret it, that much was clear.
“Okay,” Charlotte said, opening her eyes a little. Her gaze landed on the loose neckline of his robe, the pale strong lines of his chest peeking out. She blinked, looking just a second too long.
“Lottie…” Anthony said, a knowing smile spreading on his lips. He took her hand and slipped it inside his robe, his eyes glinting with mischief. “If you want to look, just look. No need to sneak around.”
“Fine.” Charlotte didn’t even try to argue, letting her eyes wander, taking in his progress from all that working out lately. He looked even better than before. Realizing where her thoughts were going, a flush crept up her cheeks and she tried to look away, pretending to be cool about it.
