“You…”
Letty’s attempt at friendliness was met with a frosty response. Her face fell and she bristled, ready to march up and give Adonis a piece of her mind.
Adonis spun around, planting himself right in front of her, tall and unyielding. His glare was icy. “What? You looking for a fight?”
The second she caught his fierce expression, Letty’s bravado fizzled out. She opened her mouth, about to say something, but Adonis didn’t give her the chance.
“Jackson, keep an eye on Charlotte. Don’t let any losers get close to her.”
Jackson tightened his grip on the suitcase. “Got it.”
“Move.”
Without another glance, Adonis shoved Letty aside, his face cold, and strolled off with his suitcase like he owned the place.
Letty stood frozen, humiliated, watching them walk away. She clenched her jaw and muttered, “Why did Charlotte only bring two bodyguards this time?”
Someone behind her scoffed. “Charlotte’s probably getting kicked out in the first round. I bet the Kingswood professors are too embarrassed to even show up.”
“Yeah, if you win anything, it’s going to be a huge deal. You’d basically be a national hero,” another person chimed in, sidling up to Letty with a flattering grin.
“I heard The Cabinda University already planned a party for you. They’re just waiting for you to bring home the trophy.”
“Really?”
The compliments finally took the edge off Letty’s anger. She flashed an overconfident smile. “Eldoria only sent me and Charlotte this year. I just hope she doesn’t embarrass us.”
A freshman who knows a bit of anatomy thinks she’s some kind of genius?
“Maybe she only got in because she has connections.”
Otherwise, what right did Charlotte have to compete?
Connections, huh?
Letty pressed her lips together, her eyes turning cold.
If anyone found out about backdoor deals, it wouldn’t just be a lost spot in the competition. Her whole reputation would go up in flames.
She took a slow breath and pulled out her phone.
