Charlotte walked in like she owned the place, not even a hint of fear in her step.

“Mr. Hawk, the young lady is here,” the butler said as he pushed open the doors to the main hall. He stepped aside and gave her a polite nod to enter.

Charlotte took a deep breath and stepped inside. The first thing she noticed was Franco, tall and sharp, standing by the huge windows. He looked so alone, the cold white light pouring over him, making him seem almost trapped and heartbreakingly distant.

As soon as she entered, Franco turned around. His eyes landed on hers right away. There was something about the way she looked at him—steady, unafraid, and a little familiar, almost like Nora.

She was dressed exactly the same as before. Only her eyes were visible, everything else hidden. Franco found himself wondering what she was really hiding under that mask.

“Please, sit,” Franco said as he moved to a chair, his face drawn and tired.

Charlotte didn’t bother with polite formalities. She picked a seat at random and sat down, tapping her cap with her fingertip. Her voice was cool and direct. “I want Covid-X.”

She didn’t waste a single word.

Franco watched her in silence for a moment. Strangely, he kind of liked her blunt style.

“My condition is simple. Save my wife. None of the top doctors could do it. Why do you think you can?”

Charlotte raised an eyebrow and let a confident smile curl on her lips. “Because I just pulled your wife back from the edge.”

Franco had been skeptical before. He never really believed Charlotte had any real medical skill. But that shot she gave Nora… it had definitely saved her life. He couldn’t get help from Asclepius, and Sunlight had been a dead end. At this point, he wasn’t about to let go of even the tiniest shred of hope.

“You can have the drug, but I need to see results first.” Franco’s voice was cold, his features sharp. “If anything happens to her during the process, you’re not walking out of here.”
