Dad?
Anthony honestly wondered if he'd just misheard her. He glanced away from Charlotte and looked at Franco, who was sitting across from him, shooting daggers with his eyes.
Did Lottie just call Franco her dad?
But the DNA report Adonis had sent said they weren’t related at all.
So what was going on? Had something happened that he didn’t know about? Lottie would never just call a random man her father, especially not a stranger.
The only explanation that made any sense was that Franco actually was Lottie’s real father. Maybe his first investigation had been right after all.
“Lottie…” Anthony turned to her, needing to hear it from her directly. “Did you just say Franco is your dad?”
“Yeah. He’s my dad.” Charlotte shoved her hands into her pockets and lowered her head, her chin hidden in the collar of her jacket. The only thing you could really see were her big, round eyes. Her voice was muffled. “My real dad.”
She honestly never imagined their first meeting would almost end in a fight.
Anthony instantly pulled his hands back. The anger that had been radiating off him disappeared, replaced by pure respect.
The tension in the room faded, but now it just felt awkward. Anthony stood there, frozen, opening and closing his mouth without a clue what to say.
Dad?
Hans was just as shocked as Anthony when he heard Charlotte’s words.
Franco was her biological father? Did that mean Charlotte was the heir to Solenia? Had Anthony just managed to offend his future father-in-law on their first meeting?
The way Franco was looking at Anthony made Hans shudder. The man looked like he’d happily tear Anthony apart.
This was a disaster.
Meanwhile, Franco could barely hide how happy he was. The difference between him and Anthony couldn’t be more obvious. As soon as he heard Charlotte call him “dad,” Franco’s whole face lit up. He took a step towards her.
Anthony was still standing protectively in front of Lottie, blocking her a little.
