Alice frowned. “So I was your target from the start, and Chloe was just a pawn?”

Magnus burst out laughing. “You’re pretty smart

Alice didn’t seem to fully grasp how dangerous her situation was.

She wasn’t scared at all.

Eric, on the other hand, was extremely cautious. He had Daniel take a team to search for explosives.

Magnus didn’t stop them, because he didn’t care whether they found anything or not.

The bomb would detonate automatically, whether someone pressed the remote or tried to disarm it.

Alice spoke again.

“If you’re after me, then let Chloe go first. She’s in really bad shape.”

Only then did Magnus bother to look at his wife.

Earlier, Chloe had been struggling violently, but now she was unnaturally still.

When his eyes fell on her, he froze.

“Blood?”

Chloe’s face was as pale as paper. She lay there with her eyes half closed, and it was hard to tell if she was still conscious.

A pool of blood had formed beneath her.

He even forgot that he still had a bigger mission to carry out.

Eric’s bodyguards immediately stepped forward and lifted Chloe up.

Magnus tried to stop them, but his raised hand fell instead, slamming hard against the floor. Then he slapped himself twice, viciously.

Every word she spoke cut into him.

Magnus suddenly jumped to his feet and glared at her.

From where he stood, he could see medical personnel rushing in and beginning to examine Chloe.

A wave of panic hit him for no reason at all.

Alice seized the opportunity and moved fast.

“Ah!”

With a scream, Magnus was pinned to the ground.

Unwilling to give up, he immediately pressed the button on the remote in his hand.

Then, wearing a wild grin, he closed his eyes.

But the massive explosion he expected never came.

He opened his eyes again in confusion.

Armed officers had already rushed in and were snapping handcuffs onto his wrists.

“That’s impossible. Impossible! I personally watched them place the bomb. How could it not explode?”

Alice found his panic almost laughable.

“Magnus, do you really think you’re the only one who understands bombs?” Alice said coldly.

When Alice had been on the phone with Eric, she had already considered every possible

outcome.

That was why the people Eric had left behind finally came in handy.

They had slipped directly into the ship and actually found the bomb.

Afterward, they realized how unstable it was. One wrong move and it could’ve exploded.

There was no choice but to call in a bomb disposal expert.

No one knew exactly how he did it, but somehow he managed to take the bomb apart.

Only after confirming that the bomb was no longer a threat did Alice board the ship.
