Max took her hand and leaned closer, practically pulling her into a half embrace. Felicia braced her free hand against his chest, ready to argue, but he squeezed her fingers and leaned in even further. "I haven't been drinking. I took a shower, so there shouldn't be any smell of alcohol."

Felicia shoved him away, quickly moving to the other end of the sofa. She turned away, clutching her chest as she tried to calm her racing breath.

Darin set Anne down on the floor.

Anne bounded over to her father. Max scooped her into his arms, noticing her damp hair, and pulled a tissue to wipe her forehead. "You are sweating so much."
