"It has passed," Felicia replied softly. "I am fine now."

"We should still have a doctor come take a look, just to be safe," Max insisted.

"There is no need for that. I really am perfectly fine."

Max simply stared at her, his dark eyes locking onto hers with an unsettling intensity. Felicia's chest tightened in panic under his scrutiny. "Why are you staring at me like that?"

"You seem incredibly nervous," Max noted slowly.

Felicia's grip on the glass tightened, her knuckles turning white. "Why on earth would I be nervous?"

Max's lips tipped up into an unreadable smile. "Do you want some more water?"

Felicia broke eye contact and downed the rest of the water in one gulp. She honestly had no idea if Max was genuinely suspicious of her condition. She let out a quiet breath, forcing her racing heart to calm down. If he figured it out, then so be it. She would not be able to hide it from him forever anyway.

"I am going upstairs," Felicia announced, quickly standing up.
