When dinnertime rolled around, Max still had not come downstairs. The butler informed them that he was currently busy and requested that his meal be sent up later.
Felicia turned to Anne. "Let's eat first, sweetie. Daddy is working."
Anne nodded obediently. "Okay."
After dinner, as a maid prepared to bring Max's food upstairs, Felicia told Anne to go watch some television. She then followed the maid upstairs. Standing outside the study, she knocked gently. Hearing a response, she opened the door and took the tray from the maid's hands. "I will take it from here."
Max looked up from his documents as she approached, quickly masking the dark frustration in his eyes before setting his papers aside. Felicia noticed the shift in his demeanor immediately. He had clearly been in a foul mood just moments before.
She walked over, set the tray on the desk, and began laying out the dishes. "Did something happen?"
Max gestured for her to come closer. As she walked around the desk, he reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her down onto his lap. "It is nothing. The team just made a mistake in their work."
"You just got here and there is already a problem," Felicia noted.
Max twirled a strand of her long hair around his fingers, his tone casual. "That is why I was a bit angry."
"Can it be fixed?" she asked.
"I have already assigned someone to handle it," Max reassured her.
"That’s good," she murmured.
Max then reached over and grabbed a piece of paper. "These are the names Dad came up with. Take a look and see which one you like."
Felicia took the paper and scanned the list. There were eight names in total, all of them quite elegant. "I think Julian sounds lovely. What do you think?"
Max smiled softly. "We really are on the same wavelength. That is the one I was leaning toward as well."
"I feel like no matter which one I picked, you would say we are on the same wavelength," Felicia teased.
"You know me too well," Max admitted.
