Ever since the summit ended, Evelynn's name had started to mean something in the industry. Some people respected her for her talent and knowledge, but there were always a few who whispered behind her back, claiming she was too close to certain big shots.
That evening, after dinner with her family, Ava and Colton took the baby outside for a walk. Felicia stayed in the living room with Greg and Luke, half-watching TV and half-listening as Greg talked about work. He told them that Greenway Electrical Services had just lost the CN project to Sunlight Tech. It was a tough blow, especially considering how much effort and money they had already poured into it.
Still, Greg kept his cool. The loss, while disappointing, was something Greenway could handle. “That’s just how business goes,” he said. “You can never expect a hundred percent success.”
Felicia nodded, though she felt a pang of regret. When she learned that Sunlight Tech was backed by IronGate Industries, and that Darin himself had led the project, his face instantly popped into her mind. She hadn’t expected Greenway to end up competing with him. He really was a tough rival.
Luke chimed in, “Looks like Greenway’s going to have to face off with him again soon. You should be careful, Greg.”
Greg just nodded. “I know. Don’t worry.”
They chatted for a while longer. Luke turned to Felicia and asked if she wanted to go paragliding the next day. It was her favorite sport. She loved how open and free the sky felt. But she really didn’t have time tomorrow.
Felicia hung up, reaching for her coffee. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed someone. She turned, surprised, and froze for a second.
The man had the kind of presence that was impossible to ignore. He was tall, perfectly put together, dressed in a deep blue satin shirt and black trousers. The look was less business, more effortless elegance. His face was striking, refined, but his expression was calm and distant.
No matter where he went, he stood out. As Felicia looked at him, he glanced her way, then followed the waiter to a seat just one table over, sitting directly across from her with only an empty chair between them.
