Felicia got to The Willow Bistro early and settled into a private room. She texted Jeremy to let him know she’d arrived, and he replied that he’d be there in about twenty minutes. He added, “I’m bringing someone else along. Is that okay?”

Felicia replied, “Of course, that’s fine.”

“Perfect. I think you two will get along.”

“Alright.”

She put her phone away and waited. Twenty minutes later, Jeremy walked in with a couple of people. With him was a young lady, probably around thirty, with soft, elegant features and a calm, confident vibe. Her hair was cut to her shoulders and she wore a smart suit, looking like she belonged in a boardroom.

Everyone exchanged quick greetings. Jeremy introduced the woman to Felicia. “This is Savannah. We were in the same college.” Then he turned to Savannah and said, “This is Felicia, the student I told you about.”

Felicia smiled. “Hi.”

Savannah returned the smile. “Hello there. I’m just tagging along with Jeremy for a free meal. Hope you don’t mind.”

“Not at all,” Felicia said.

They sat down and ordered. Felicia took a moment to thank Anthony. “I never really got the chance to thank you properly.”

Anthony waved it off. “Don’t mention it. Really. I heard you resigned?”

Felicia nodded. “Yeah, I did. I’m helping Jeremy as an assistant for a month.”

Anthony grinned. “That’s great. You’ll do well with him.” He looked at her, his tone turning a little more serious. “You know, that night, you wereout in the cold, pregnant and all, and some people didn’t even care… If you ask me, you should just call it quits and get a divorce. There are plenty of good men out there.”

Anthony had known Felicia for years and trusted her. He knew she’d never pull any underhanded tricks, like using the pregnancy to manipulate her way into a rich family. Besides, the Hawthornes weren’t the kind of people to be swayed by something like that. They must have seen real value in Felicia to let her in.

They exchanged numbers and kept chatting. At one point, Felicia needed to use the restroom, and Savannah offered to join her.

When they came out, they bumped into someone—Andrea.

Felicia stopped in her tracks. If Andrea was here, that meant Max was probably here too. What were the odds?

Andrea looked genuinely surprised to see both of them together. Her gaze lingered on Savannah, and she smiled. “Savannah, it’s been ages. I never thought I’d run into you here.”

Felicia was a little shocked. She didn’t know Andrea and Savannah knew each other.

Savannah looked back at Andrea, her tone suddenly chilly. “Guess I should’ve stayed home today.”
