Felicia paused, completely bewildered by the question. He had just woken up. What else could he possibly be doing?

"How should I know?" she replied, not in the mood for guessing games.

Max let out a long, heavy exhale over the phone. Felicia instantly caught the strange, thick undertone in his voice, and her expression shifted. "You..."

A low, dark chuckle rumbled in Max's chest, his voice dropping into a seductive, gravelly rasp. "I'm thinking about having a very deep, intimate exchange with you."

In an instant, Felicia's face burned crimson. Without a second of hesitation, she hung up the phone.

She sat there with a dark expression, taking several long moments to calm her racing heart. What on earth had possessed Max to say something so shamelessly provocative? She tossed her phone aside in frustration.

Thousands of miles away, Max stared at his phone screen, easily picturing Felicia's furious, blushing face. He let out a soft, amused laugh, set his phone down, and hauled himself out of bed to take a freezing cold shower.

Over the next few days, Felicia took the time to settle in properly. She wasn't entirely idle, of course. In the evenings, she reviewed the local operations to familiarize herself with the business. The workload wasn't overwhelming, so she felt confident she could manage it smoothly. The most critical project for the Cloudville branch at the moment was their collaboration with Darin's company.

She also visited a few of the city's famous tourist spots to relax. Being in a completely unfamiliar environment felt incredibly freeing. She went shopping alone, took pictures alone, and ate meals alone. She spent hours sitting in a cafe, sipping coffee and watching the light drizzle fall outside. Listening to the steady rhythm of the rain, she felt no anxiety or unease, only an indescribable sense of peace and relaxation. She had muted all notifications on her phone. Right now, she just wanted to savor this quiet solitude.

When she returned to the apartment that evening, she saw a message from Darin. He had put together a detailed travel guide for her, complete with recommendations for local street food and hidden gems. He mentioned he had personally visited all these places during his previous trips to Cloudville; it seem as though he had traveled here in advance specifically to create this itinerary for her.

Even though she never replied, Darin continued to send her messages every single day. Felicia read every single one of them.

Aside from Darin, there was also Max. Felicia hadn't even bothered to open his chat window.

She was just about to call Anne to show her the bear plushie she had bought for her today. But before she could even dial the number, Max called. Felicia stared at the caller ID on the screen and promptly rejected the call.

A second later, he called back.

Frowning, Felicia finally answered. "Max, are you always this annoying?"
