They were terrified something terrible had happened to Felicia. Now that the divorce had been finalized, what was going to happen to Anne?

Staring at the divorce decree, the Ross family felt none of the relief they had once anticipated.

Listening to Ava's distressed words, Jeremy's dark eyes grew cold. This ruthless maneuver was exactly what he expected from the Hawthornes. They had likely despised Felicia for a long time, only tolerating the marriage because Max had adamantly refused to let her go. Now that Max was seemingly out of the picture, they wasted no time severing ties to protect the estate.

"I understand, Ava," Jeremy said smoothly. "I will let her know."

"Alright. Please take good care of Felicia for us."

"I will."

Jeremy hung up the phone and turned his gaze to Felicia. She was still staring blankly out the window, completely numb. She had undoubtedly heard Ava's devastating news, yet she showed no reaction. Jeremy kept his silence and simply slipped the phone back into her bag.

The car glided to a smooth stop outside her apartment building. Jeremy stepped out, quickly rounded the vehicle, and opened her door, gently helping her out of the seat. They rode the elevator up in heavy silence.

When the butler opened the door, his eyes widened in shock to see Jeremy carrying Felicia inside in his arms. "Mr. Milman..."

Jeremy gave a curt nod and carried Felicia upstairs to her bedroom, gently setting her down on the sofa. He stared at her with sorrowful eyes for a long moment before turning and leaving the room. Downstairs, he handed the evidence bag to the butler. "Take a look at this."

The butler accepted the bag and pulled out the tie. His eyes instantly blew wide with horror. "This... this is the tie Mr. Hawthorne was wearing the day he left."

Just then, Jeremy's phone vibrated. He stepped to the side and answered Darin's call. "What happened?"

"We found the tie Max was wearing that day," Jeremy reported grimly.

Darin's mind went completely blank for a moment, leaving him entirely speechless. Remembering Holden's arrogant, victorious sneer during the negotiations earlier, Darin's face morphed into a mask of pure, icy fury. A suffocating silence stretched between them over the line.

Jeremy had already done everything he could. Darin had secretly transferred a portion of Max's offshore assets into Jeremy's hands to prevent the family and other predators from devouring them. Taking temporary control was the only thing he could do . Ironically, the one person Darin could trust the most in this crisis was once Max's greatest business rival.

"Okay," Jeremy replied.

After hanging up, Jeremy immediately made a series of calls to arrange a secure flight back for Felicia. Once everything was settled, he lowered his phone and cast one last, lingering glance toward the upstairs bedroom. He turned to the butler. "Make sure she is taken care of."

He had urgent matters of his own to handle and could not stay to comfort her.

"I will," the butler promised, his voice incredibly heavy.

Without another word, Jeremy turned and walked out of the apartment.
