Jamison grew worried, trying to figure out how to defend himself. If things got really bad, he might just have to sever ties with Naylor. After all, his wife was the one he would spend the rest of his life with.

Soon, the door to his room opened, and Ivy walked in. She glanced at the bed, schooling her joyous expression into one of solemn seriousness. He always liked to be dramatic, so today, it was her turn to keep him in suspense.

On the bed, Dr. Ludwig tensed up the moment his wife entered, though he tried to maintain a calm facade. He didn't dare ask what she and Katrina had talked about, fearing he'd be yelled at for no reason. Instead, he jutted his chin toward the small table. "I need some water."

He spoke with the air of a king.

Ivy, her mind completely consumed by the wonderful news of her pregnancy, hadn't given a second thought to Katrina and Naylor. Hearing her husband's imperious command, she said nothing, simply walking over to pour him a glass of warm water and carefully inserting a straw. This way, he could drink easily just by tilting his head. He was certainly making the most of his situation.

Jamison watched as she brought the water to his bedside, holding the straw to his lips. He was completely baffled. He froze for a moment, looking at her with wide eyes.

"What's wrong?" Ivy asked, puzzled. "Didn't you say you wanted water?"

Jamison swallowed hard before finally parting his lips and taking the straw. He drank slowly, sip by sip, while Ivy patiently held the glass at a slight angle for him.

Ivy frowned, looking hurt. "What is that supposed to mean?"

Jamison cautiously lowered his arm, still on guard. "What are *you* trying to do? Naylor wronged Katrina, so why are you taking it out on me? I told you from the beginning they weren't right for each other. You were the one who pushed them together."

"What?" Ivy finally understood. No wonder he had looked so guilty and nervous since she'd walked in. He thought she was here to settle the score after talking to Katrina. Well, since he brought it up, they might as well talk about it.

She looked at him with utter disdain and launched into a tirade. "What kind of scummy friends do you have? I used to think Naylor was just a player but that he was a decent person. Now I'm starting to think he has serious character flaws. I trusted him because I trust you, and that's why I set them up. And now he pulls this stunt with Katrina. If he wants to break up, he should just say so. Picking fights and making baseless accusations is just cruel."
